Be Thankful
It’s Thanksgiving Season. It’s what we do in November. Gratitude — it’s simply the time of year to talk about it.
What I want to share about thankfulness or gratitude is its power. Its power to transform. Its power as a tool! Its power as a life hack.
Thats right, I said, “Life hack.” Knowing how to use the tools in your tool box helps navigate life’s mishaps and misery.
Let’s chat briefly about gratitude on the frequency scale. It is the lowest of the high frequencies. so when life is sucking, it may be way to difficult to go from sadness to joy. And even if you managed it — it can’t be easily sustained.
But the jump from sadness to gratitude is manageable it can more easily be sustained. Gratitude is like the lowest rung of the ladder that takes you out of the pit to freedom. So grab hold.
I have used this as a way to shift bad situations at home. The kids might be tired, missed their regular bedtime and now in a overtired state, they start reminiscing over all the things that aren’t going right at school and then they quickly spiral to “I am nobody. I should eat worms and die.”
Well if you have kids or work with kids, you know logic and reason are not effective tools at this point.
Life Hack:
Name 10 things you are grateful for:
- popcycles
- gum
- candy bars
- Mommy
- fluffy blankets
- the color blue
- rainbows
- kittens
- hugs
- oranges
It doesn’t have to be this deep contemplative gratitude only a shift in the being too gratitude. The frequency of gratitude is now being generated and evoked. The lower frequencies have difficulty remains present in the face of gratitude.
So give yourself the edge up and let’s get grateful!
