We now enter the dark months of the year. It is time to go inward and reflect. This process takes courage and determination.
Sometimes it is we who are dark. It may be a time of gloom or sadness. This season of lights may be a reminder of separation instead of connection. Sometimes it may seem overwhelming with no way out. Going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark doesn’t help shift the gloom. So what can? Meditation during periods of personal darkness may be a challenge. Despite all of of it, I encourage you to connect bravely with your own inner light. For doing this, it fills that empty space inside. Allowing us to shed unnecessary sadness or grief. Truly resetting ourselves for the next moment to connect and experience our own wholeness.
My favorite way is simply through imagination. One may call it a prayer or meditation. But those words can be heavy. So let’s just imagine.
Imagine you have a little pilot light in your heart. You know it is there because you are alive.
Imagine that you can see the flame.
Breathe your breath deep into it.
Let the glow grow bigger and bigger until you are the light house that holds a beacon bright enough to light the sea.
Play with this heart light inside of you. Connect with it. Breathe into it. Do it often. The more playful you can be with this exercise the more powerful our personal healing can be.
Many blessings,
Jenny
